To produce a successful Opening scene, I learned that it is important to have a storyboard. This is why I practised storyboarding the Opening scene of 'The Fault in Our Stars.'
I did whatever I could draw because this was new to me as I had never done a storyboard before.
Struggles I went through while drawing the storyboard
- Lack of Drawing Skills: Since I don’t know how to draw, visualizing and sketching scenes felt very frustrating.
- Time-Consuming Process: It took me a longer time than expected to create each frame, especially when adjusting character positions, expressions, and scene layouts.
Learning Outcome
- Importance of Planning: Storyboarding made me think ahead about shot choices, pacing, and scene transitions.
- Basic Camera Techniques: By breaking down scenes into frames, I gained a better understanding of shot types, composition, and perspective.
- Clarity Over Perfection: I realised that storyboards don’t have to be perfectly drawn; simple stick figures and arrows can still convey action and direction.
